Location: Millennium Park (130 King Street) 

Area description: The location is wide-open with paved pathways and level grassy terrain. Seating is scattered around the park along with trees to offer shade. 

Washrooms: Yes, a wheelchair accessible public bathroom is in the Silver Bean Café. 

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, parking lot at King and Water Streets. 

Nearest bus stops: Yes, located within three blocks of the downtown Peterborough bus terminal. 

Possible concerns: The walkway from the King Street entrance to the park traverses railway tracks which may create a trip hazard.    

Date/time: Saturday, October 4, 7:30 pm 

Location: Heritage Pavilion on Armour Hill 300 (Hunter Street East) 

Area description: Located behind the Peterborough Museum and Archives. The performance site is at the top of the hill on Armour Road. The terrain is uneven and bumpy and may be slippery when wet.  Additional lighting will be used to improve vision. 

Washrooms: Yes, but not wheelchair accessible. 

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Parking lot at the Peterborough Museum and Archives. 

Nearest bus stops: Weller bus stops at 7:00 pm. 

Date/time: Friday, October 3, 9:00pm, First Friday 

Location: Peterborough Square Courtyard, corner of Water and Charlotte Streets. (Peterborough Square indoors for poor weather conditions). 

Area description: The concrete courtyard is a wide-open space, with ramps and built-in seating. Peterborough Square also contains ramps and an elevator to reach the lower floor, with seating and tables throughout the building.  

Washrooms: Peterborough Square washrooms are not open at night.  

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, street parking, and the Peterborough Square underground parking garage. 

Nearest bus stops: Located one block from the downtown Peterborough bus terminal. 

Possible concerns: Loud noises may be emanating from traffic stops and passing cars. 

Date/time: Performances at noon each day from September 29 to October 3. 

Location: Peterborough Square Courtyard, corner of Water and Charlotte Streets (Peterborough Square indoors for poor weather conditions)  

Area description: The concrete courtyard is a wide-open space, with ramps and built-in seating. Peterborough Square also contains ramps and an elevator to reach the lower floor, with seating and tables scattered throughout the building.  

Washrooms: Yes, accessible public bathrooms are located inside Peterborough Square. 

Sighted guide: A sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, street parking, and the Peterborough Square underground parking garage. 

Possible concerns: Loud, startling noises from nearby traffic. 

Date/time: Sunday, September 28th at 1pm 

Location: Teacher’s College Neighbourhood, starting at 137 Benson Ave. 

Area description:   Porchapalooza is an outdoor concert series that takes place on the porches of five homes, all within a city block of one another. The neighbourhood is quiet, with reasonably good sidewalks, and smooth transitions for street crossings. A tour begins at 137 Benson Avenue, and continues to186 Aberdeen Avenue, 209 Aberdeen Avenue, 779 Aylmer Street and 793 Aylmer Street. There is steep hill to get to the different locations, but it should not prove difficult for travel on mobility devices.  

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guide:  Yes, sighted guides will be available. 

Parking: Yes, street parking for up to 3 hours. 

Nearest bus stops: Chemong Road. and Aberdeen Avenue ; Benson Avenue and Wolsley Street. 

Possible concerns:  Several steep lips between the sidewalk and street. Tour participation will require traveling for a few blocks to reach each house. A tour guide will be available.  

Each concert will be approximately 25 minutes in length. Seating is limited and will be prioritized for anyone requiring a seat due to accessibility needs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.  

 Area Description: The yard at 137 Benson Avenue is level. There is a slight rise (20 degrees) from the left to the right as you face the home from the sidewalk.  

Area Description: It is a very short walk from the first to the second location. The street crossing is nicely graded and easy to traverse. The yard is level.  

Area Description: 209 Aberdeen Avenue is across the street from 186 Aberdeen Avenue.  

There is ample time between performances for attendees to cross at the corner of Aberdeen and Benson Avenue. There is a slight slope on the sidewalk. The yard at 209 Aberdeen is level.   

Area Description: To get to 779 Aylmer Street, attendees will need to walk a full block along Aberdeen Avenue.  There is a slight decline on Aberdeen that becomes steeper as it approaches Aylmer Street. Artsweek staff and volunteers are available should anyone need assistance. The yard at 779 Aylmer is relatively level.  

Date/time: Friday, October 3rd 1pm & 5pm. Saturday, October 4th, 1pm + 5pm. Sunday, October 5th, 3pm 

Location: My Storage Peterborough, 810 Technology Drive 

Area description:  The performance will take place inside a storage unit in a warehouse. There is a large step at the warehouse entrance. The length of performance is 55 minutes. Seating will be provided. Attendants will be available to help audience members to their seats.  

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, parking is available.  

Nearest bus stops: The bus service to this location is limited. Bus stops are not close to the performance location. 

Possible concerns: As the warehouse entrance is not accessible, people using mobility devices would need to be driven into the warehouse. Vehicles are allowed in the space.  

Date/time: Friday, October 3rd, 9pm 

Location: Under the Hunter St Bridge, Steve Terry Way 

Area description: The performance will take place under the archway closest to the river. The sidewalk approach and performance area are paved and even. Seating is limited and will be prioritized for anyone requiring a seat due to accessibility needs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs. 

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, street level parking, with accessible parking located closer to the bridge. 

Nearest bus stops: Hunter and Burnham Streets; Burnham and Sophia Streets.   

Possible concerns: Noise from overhead and downtown traffic may cause discomfort. There is a natural echo under the bridge which may cause discomfort.  

Date/time: Tuesday, September 30, 4:00pm – 7:30pm & Saturday, October 4, 4:00pm – 7:30pm. 

Location: Rotary Park, 100 Hazlitt Street 

Area description:  

Rotary Park is in East City and can be accessed via the Rotary Greenway Trail where it crosses Hazlitt Street. There are sidewalks and gravel pathways throughout the park and leading to the area where the artworks will be installed.   

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guide: Yes, a sighted guide will be available.  

Parking: Yes, street parking.   

Nearest bus stops: Dufferin and Armour Streets.  

Possible concerns:  

Date/time: Wednesday, October 1, 11am 

Location: Bluestreak Records, 394 George St. N 

Area description: The doorway is level with the sidewalk. There is limited maneuverability at the front of  the store, and some aisles are narrow.  The artists’ collaborations are being broadcast live from Bluestreak. Anyone not able to attend and experience them in person can tune into 92.7fm or stream online at www.trentradio.ca.  

Washrooms: No public washrooms.  

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available.  

Parking: Yes, street parking.  

Nearest bus stops: Located two blocks from the downtown bus terminal.  

Possible concerns: Narrow aisles may be a barrier for some mobility devices.  

Date/time: Wednesday, October 1, 2pm 

Location: By the Books, 384 Water St.  

Area description: This location for Radio on the Go is not wheelchair accessible. The artists’ collaborations are being broadcast live from By the Books. Anyone not able to attend and experience them in person can tune into 92.7fm or stream online at www.trentradio.ca. 

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guides: Yes, a sighted guide will be available.  

Parking: Yes, street parking.  

Nearest bus stops: Located two blocks from the downtown bus terminal.  

Possible concerns: The sidewalk is not level at the store entrance and there are steps into the building. The aisles are narrow. Books stacked on the floor may be trip hazards.  

Date: Monday, September 29, noon 

Location: The Jail Park at the Peterborough County Courthouse, 470 Water Street. 

Area description: This is one of three locations where The Hollow Woods Recorder Consort will be performing. Of the three venues it is the second most accessible. The drop off location for anyone with mobility challenges is in the parking lot at 55 Murray Street. Parking is not permitted in the Murray Street lot.  Seating is limited and will be prioritized for anyone requiring a seat due to accessibility needs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.  

Washrooms:  No public washrooms. 

Sighted guide: Yes, sighted guides will be available.  

Parking: Yes, parking is behind the Court House and can be accessed from Brock Street. The drop-off location for anyone with mobility challenges is in the parking lot at 55 Murray Street. Parking is not permitted in the Murray Street lot.   

Nearest bus stops:  George and Brock Streets, Water and Brock Streets.  

Possible concerns: Transit users will need to climb a steep hill to get to the concert location.  

Date: Friday, October 3, 5:30 pm 

Location: The Lift Lock, 354 Hunter Street E, west side of lock 

Area description: This is the third location for the three-concert series. The concert takes place at the base of the Lock. The pathways leading to the performance area are paved. The pathway from the parking area is steep with some rough patches. At the bottom of the hill, it intersects the pathway leading to the Lift Lock.  This pathway is smooth and flat, which makes for easy walking and use of mobility devices.      

Seating is limited and will be prioritized for anyone requiring a seat due to accessibility needs.  

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs. There is a bench located at the performance area. 

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guide: A sighted guide will be available.  

Parking:  Yes.  

Nearest bus stops: There is a transit stop on Hunter Street on the West side of the Lift Locks.  

Possible concerns:  Rough patches on the pathway leading from the parking lot may be trip hazards or create issues for wheelchairs.  Manual chair users may require assistance ascending or descending the hill. The distance from the parking lot to the performance area makes it the least accessible of the three locations Solace for the Spirit is being performed.  

Date: Sunday, October 5, 1:00pm 

Location: Under the Hunter Street Bridge 

Area description:  The performance will take place under the archway furthest from the river. The sidewalk approach and performance area are paved and even. There are several picnic tables and benches placed throughout the area, some have been adapted for people using mobility devices. Otherwise, seating is limited and will be prioritized for anyone requiring a seat due to accessibility needs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.  

Washrooms: No public washrooms. 

Sighted guide: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, street level parking, with accessible parking located closer to the bridge 

Nearest bus stops: Hunter and Burnham Streets; Burnham and Sophia Streets.

Date: Thursday, October 2, 1 pm 

Location: Silver Bean Cafe, 130 King St. 

Area description: The Silver Bean Café is situated in Millenium Park, a wide-open space with paved pathways and level grassy terrain. The workshop will be held in the atrium adjacent to the Café. The room is bright and airy with ample seating. 

Washrooms: Yes, a wheelchair accessible public bathroom is in the Silver Bean Café. 

Sighted guide: Yes, a sighted guide will be available. 

Parking: Yes, parking lot at King and Water Streets. 

Nearest bus stops: Located within three blocks of the downtown Peterborough bus terminal.  

Possible concerns: Railway tracks on the approach to the Silver Bean Café from Millenium Park’s King Street entrance may create a tripping hazard. An easier walking route may be through the Charlotte Street entrance. 

Date/time: Oct 1 10:00am – Noon 

Location: Regional Farmers’ Market (215 Charlotte Street), located at Quaker Foods City Square. 

Area description: The location is wide-open with a paved, flat surface, with no steps. The area will be very crowded. 

Washrooms: Yes, accessible public washrooms are available in the Peterborough Public Library, located on Aylmer Street beside the Shoppers Drug Mart. 

Sighted guide: No. 

Parking: Yes, street parking, and King Street Parkade is located around the corner from Quaker Foods City Square. 

Nearest bus stops: Located within one block of the downtown Peterborough bus terminal.
