Join the Artsweek Presenters for a meet and greet. Live music, food, and performance intermingled with talk about all things Artsweek.
Atelier Ludmila presents:
Baba Yaga and the Lost Babushka, a family-friendly afternoon performance, set among the trees and rolling lawns of Victoria Park.
Join our band of merry-makers and follow the Giant Fire Bird on a roving adventure, in this adaptation of an Eastern European classic celebrating children, friendship and grandmas! . Featuring live music, giant puppets and some rather big and very little surprises along the way.
Atelier Ludmila is a performance-based production house and research lab invested in making art big with the public.

Day Job
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 6, 6-9 pm
Day Job is an exhibition offering insight into both artists’ creative process and their struggles to sustain themselves. Featuring photographic portraits of local artists ‘working’ alongside their visual artworks, it will illustrate the many ‘day jobs’ artists take on in order to support their creative practice.
Curated by Elizabeth Fennell and Ann Jaeger, the exhibition will feature photographs by local image makers, alongside works by the featured artists at Gallery in the Attic.

Art Abandonment Project and Workshop Series
The Art School of Peterborough presents a series of separate workshops for youth, teens, and adults in a variety of mediums. $10 / workshop
These workshops will allow students the satisfaction of the art-making process itself with the end result showing its effect art has on others. All artwork for this project will be left or abandoned within the community for others to find. Individuals will determine their location of abandonment. It could be a complete act of kindness or for a complete stranger. All artwork will contain a specific tag that to associate the work with Artsweek 2014, The Art School of Peterborough’s Art Abandonment project and a link to facebook and twitter.
Participants in this movement do not have to take part in the workshop. Individuals can create within their own spaces and submit to the project as well. Along with this experience of art making, individuals will see the positive effect art can have on themselves, others and the community.

Electrick City Historic Walking Tour
Get out on foot and enjoy The Electrick City Historical Walking Tour! Experience a side of Peterborough seldom seen. Take in new sights and stories about Peterborough’s past, and past inhabitants. This is the Artsweek event you’ll still be talking about when you pass into history yourself! Make sure you don’t miss it. Walk it early, lest it disappear forever!

Public Energy presents
Totally Multi: Dennis Tourbin’s World of Art and Performance
An event celebrating the legacy of poet/painter/performance artist Dennis Tourbin (1949-1998), a pioneer of Peterborough’s contemporary art scene.

Totally Multi will feature artists who Dennis worked with, going back to the 1970s, as well as today’s generation of performers, artists and writers. They will perform Dennis’s work, and in some cases present new interpretations of Dennis’s varied output, which included paintings, video, performance art and poems. The event will cast a light on an important time – 1974 to 1984 – in the development of Peterborough’s contemporary arts culture. A full line-up and description can be seen at publicenergy.ca
Totally Multi is happening in conjunction with two other related programs: The Language of Visual Poetry, an exhibition of Tourbin’s work presented by the Art Gallery of Peterborough and hosted by Artspace, institutions Dennis had a strong association with and which are both celebrating their 40th anniversaries in 2014; and Paris La Nuit, a restaged performance by Niagara Artists Centre (St. Catharines) of one of Tourbin’s painted plays, presented by Artspace and Public Energy in partnership with the Art Gallery of Peterborough.
